Summary:
She should not exist.
He should not love her.
Claire Brennan has been attending Emerson Academy for two years now (the longest she and her mom have remained anywhere) and she's desperate to stay put for the rest of high school. So there's no way she's going to tell her mom about the psychic visions she's been having or the creepy warnings that she's in danger.
Alec MacKenzie is fed up with his duties to watch and, when necessary, eliminate the descendants of his angelic forefathers. He chose Emerson as the ideal hiding place where he could be normal for once. He hadn't factored Claire into his plans. . . .
Their love is forbidden, going against everything Alec has been taught to believe. But when the reason behind Claire's unusual powers is revealed and the threat to her life becomes clear, how far will Alec go to protect her?
My Thoughts:
This was a great book! I loved the dual point of views! I think without them, the story wouldn't have made as much sense, and you wouldn't have seen how much Alec really really loves Claire!
The only problem I have with the book is that it is not a series. So far there are no plans for another book by either of the authors. To me that is just sad. The book ends after a major twist in the plot and you are left with a startling revelation and the introduction of Claire's grandmother!!! What better way to set up for another book in a series! There are so many questions left unanswered and Alec has finally decided to stop running and stay with Claire! It would be great to see their relationship develop more.
Claire's friends are so supportive in this book. I was surprised she tells them her secret, but then very glad she does. I don't think she would have survived without them.
All in all a good read, but it left me with questions that I may never get answered! :(
Rating: 4 Stars!
I completely forgot about this book & I have an ARC I got from goodreads sitting right on my shelf, lol! I read it in Feb. but yeh, I forgot everything that happened in it. In my quick review on goodreads I apparently also thought there would be a sequel or something :/ I gave it 4/5 stars too

Ahhh, I'm not really fond of books that have a lot of loose ends. Great review though! :)

DeleteI'm not familiar with this one. Love the cover. Concerned about the open ending....Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat review! This book is on my to-read list for a while now. I actually like that it's not the series, I read to much series and it's hard to read new book when I always have series to finish.
ReplyDeleteI hope to read this book soon.
I'am a new follower.
