Covet by Melissa Darnell

Dangerous to be together. Painful to be apart.
Savannah Colbert knows she broke up with Tristan Coleman for the right reasons. Most of all, to keep from killing him with her new vampire abilities. But try telling her heart. Now, lost in a sea of hostile Clann faces, Sav tries to come to terms with what she's becoming and what that means for her future. And that someone is doing their best to bully her into making a terrible mistake.

Tristan can't believe Sav won't even talk to him. If being apart is her decision, fine. Just don't expect him to honor it. But even as he prepares to fight for the girl he loves, forces beyond their control take them both in directions neither could have foreseen or prepared for.

A reckoning is coming… and not everyone will survive. (Summary by Goodreads.com)

My Thoughts:

Covet picks up right where Crave left off. They are on the plane headed home from the vampire council where Savannah has promised to brake up with Tristan. Within the first two chapters though, tragedy strikes at the hand of the Clann. Savannah also promises them to never be with Tristan again. Tristan is beyond heartbroken with Savannah's decision. He wants her to have the same faith in their relationship that he does. Savannah is also heartbroken, but knows that this is the only way to keep Tristan safe.

Between all of the heartbreak, Savannah decides that it is time that she learns how to use magic. I was so happy that she took the initiative to teach herself. Her mom and grandma may have promised to never teach her magic, but Savannah never did promise to not teach herself. :)

To top it all off Savannah's body is going through even more changes, becoming more like a vampire. Which means, that she must do something that she never thought she would ever do...she must learn to feed. At this point in the book I had to admire how strong Savannah was. Everything she loves has been taken away from her and her life has been turned upside down. Sure she gets to be with her Dad more, but she misses everyone else that used to be in her life.

I do not think that she would have done as well without her friends. Ron was the biggest surprise in the book as well as the information about the Keepers!

After seeing the vampire blood and clann blood mix, I so did not see the ending coming or everyone's reaction to the events. Savannah is left with a choice with no right or wrong answer, and I hope everything works out!

I would recommend this book to everyone that loved Crave and everyone else that is looking for a good original read! I literally could not put the book down until I finished it!
